VibeCheck
Georgetown University • DSAN 6700: Machine Learning App Deployment
An application that allows users to discover restaurants in Washington, DC by their vibe, rather than food type! Just enter a text description (“cozy”, “romantic”, etc) or a reference photo, and VibeCheck will return similar vibes by extracting multimodal embeddings from images & text (CLIP + SentenceBERT) and returning fast similarity search using vector indexing.

HairNet
Georgetown University • DSAN 6600: Neural Networks and Deep Learning
HairNet, a final project for DSAN 6600, introduces the first deep learning model for full Andre Walker 10-class hair typing, achieving 53.7% top-1 and 88.7% within-one-class accuracy using EfficientNetV2-M with ordinal regression on a custom ~14k-image dataset.

LLM on a Budget: Active Knowledge Distillation for Efficient Classification of Large Text Corpora
Federal Reserve Board
This research proposes M-RARU, an active learning method that intelligently selects which data points a large language model should label when training smaller “student” models, rather than having the LLM label everything. This approach reduces the number of samples needed by up to 80% compared to random sampling, cutting costs and training time while maintaining classification accuracy.

Data vs. Dogma: Maternal Wellness & Abortion Policy
Georgetown University • DSAN 5100
Statistical analysis exploring relationships between state-level maternal health outcomes and abortion policies post-Dobbs decision.

Advanced Data Visualization
Georgetown University • DSAN 5200
Interactive visual narrative that seeks to dispel common myths regarding HIV/AIDS. Final Project for DSAN 5200: Advanced Data Visualization.

US Media Coverage NLP Analysis
Georgetown University • DSAN 5400
Advanced data visualization, topic modeling and sentiment analysis to identify patterns in coverage between right-leaning, neutral, and left-leaning news organizations.

Review of Interventions for Detecting Human Trafficking Victims in U.S. Healthcare
University of Virginia • Global Public Health Capstone Thesis
Systematic review that investigates what efforts are being made in healthcare facilities across the U.S. and how they have affected identification rates, with policy recommendations.

Uncovering the Unknown: Violence Against Humanitarian Aid Workers
Georgetown University • Scholarship Competition Project
Exploring how data on humanitarian aid worker deaths and injury can provide insight into global violence trends.
